Tank's test results

Well, Tank had his fluoroscopy at Penn Vet on Wednesday. His diagnosis is Gastro-esophageal reflux, no evidence of sliding hiatal hernia, incompetent sphincter at the lower end of the esophagus. They want to try medical management first for one month which includes Omeprazole 20mg tablets (1/2 a tablet twice daily), Cisapride liquid which has been called into a compounding pharmacy and Sucralfate (which is given as a slurry 3-4 times daily).

His daily calorie intake should be between 1400-1800. As the medications get into his system, keeping food down should be easier. If medical management fails, then surgical procedures to consider would be correcting his upper airway abnormalities in order to decrease pressure in his chest, and/or gastropexy (intra abdominal surgey) .

Not yet - he's had several setbacks. Most recently, the vet suggested that I start him on wet food mixed in a blender with chicken broth and/or water, but it's started a cycle of vomiting again. :(
